Key Insights and Data from the Miami Tech Works Future of Workforce Development Summit

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Future of Workforce Development Summit hosted by our partners Miami Tech Works at the Chapman Conference Center.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the entire team for their support and for giving us the opportunity for Creative Hub to join their mission as training providers. We are proud to be part of this effort to help re-skill over 1,000 individuals from underserved or unemployed communities. In addition, we aim to place 500+ people into good jobs.

We’re thrilled to have found partners who share the same values in training and job placement. We know that with skills, we can uplift our community and combat poverty. Through initiatives like Miami Tech Works, we will continue to make Miami the happiest city in the US.

But today, it’s all about the numbers. I want to share some key data that Grant Director Ms. Terri-Ann Brown presented yesterday. I believe data is the best proof of the impact we’re making:

• 1,500+ participants enrolled in training programs from institutions like Miami Dade College, Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, OIC, 4Geeks Academy, IronHack, Brainstation, and Creative Hub.
• 50+ committed employer partnerships. As a training provider, we are proud to have brought 13 employer partners to date to join this initiative.
• 230+ employers hired full-time participants.
• 315 people were placed in jobs with salaries above $66K.
• 60% of placements were in NAIC Code 541 (professional, scientific, and technical services).
• 16% were placed as software developers/engineers and data analysts.

Employment Wage Growth in Computer and Math Occupations in Florida:

From 2020 to 2024, 66,500+ new tech jobs were created in Florida, marking a growth of nearly 30% in just three years. The annual mean wage increased from $82,810 in 2020 to $100,180 in 2023.

Trends to Watch:

Terri-Ann also shared some 2023-2024 South Florida trends that are important to analyze for Miami Tech Works:

• Top skills in demand: Computer Science, SAL, Project Management, Data Analysis, and Python.
• People with skills in Automation and Microsoft Azure have seen a 25% growth rate.
• The most in-demand tech occupations are:
  • Software developers (579 average monthly postings)
  • Computer user support specialists (319 average monthly postings)
  • Data scientists (271 average monthly postings)

Last but not least, I want to highlight that the Tech Talent Coalition is an excellent platform for connecting employers, training providers/academia, and students. Creative Hub is proud to be a partner of the Good Jobs Challenge with our “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Marketing Bootcamp.”

We are also excited to share that our students are now at 35% of the program. Today, we just celebrated our first student hire! There’s no greater testament to the success of the Miami Tech Works team than the data that speaks for itself.
