Kandji, a leader in device management and security solutions for Apple devices, is expanding its footprint by opening a new East Coast headquarters in Coral Gables, Miami. Known for delivering innovative, automation‑forward solutions that empower IT and security teams to efficiently manage and secure enterprise Apple environments, the company is committed to tapping into Miami’s thriving tech ecosystem. We are interviewing Sylvia LePodevin, Chief Marketing Officer at Kandji, to learn more about this expansion, local talent development, and the future of tech in Miami.

Miami Tech Expansion: Innovation and Growth

Kandji opens in Miami as an expansion. What factors influenced this move, and how has the Miami tech ecosystem responded to your presence?

Sylvia: “Kandji is building a new hub of innovation in Miami, reinforcing our commitment to the city’s growth as a thriving tech ecosystem. The Miami tech ecosystem has welcomed us with open arms, with many organizations offering resources to support office expansion, hiring, and talent development. The city is investing heavily in cultivating local talent and providing a business‑friendly environment, making it an ideal place for high‑growth companies like Kandji. We see Miami as the next frontier for tech innovation—a place where growth and expansion are happening at an unprecedented pace. We want to be a key part of that momentum by building a world‑class team here, contributing to the community, and helping shape Miami’s future as a global tech hub.”

During the Miami Tech Talent Summit, you co‑hosted a panel on securing digital marketing roles. What key takeaways did you share with aspiring marketers, and how do you plan to support local talent development?

“At the Miami Tech Talent Summit, I co‑hosted a panel on securing digital marketing roles in Miami, sharing key takeaways with aspiring marketers. Some of the advice I gave was:
● Develop skills that hiring managers prioritize, such as AI in marketing, social media strategy, and video content creation.
● Optimize your LinkedIn presence and showcase real work through portfolio links.
Kandji is committed to supporting local talent development. We’ve spoken at Miami Tech Works, Creative Hub, and other industry events, and have connected with several organizations focused on developing the local workforce. We aim to continue sharing our expertise, being a top employer for Miami’s tech talent, and creating meaningful opportunities in the region.”

As you expand in Miami, how are you adapting your marketing strategies to resonate with the diverse and dynamic local market?

“We’re evolving our strategies to align with the city’s dynamic and diverse business landscape. This includes:
● Hosting and speaking at industry events to build deeper connections with the local tech community.
● Prioritizing social media and digital engagement to increase our presence and foster a direct connection with Miami’s innovators and business leaders.”

Cultivating Community & Leadership

What initiatives is the company undertaking to integrate into the Miami community, and how do you envision its role in the local tech landscape?

“We are actively working to integrate into Miami’s tech ecosystem by collaborating with organizations such as: The Beacon Council, Creative Hub, Miami Tech Works, eMerge, Opportunity Miami, Miami Dade College, and more. Through these partnerships, we participate in community events, workforce development programs, and initiatives that drive local innovation.”

Having advanced to the CMO position by age 29, what challenges did you face, and what advice would you offer young professionals aiming for leadership roles?

“Advancing to CMO required constant reinvention—from being employee #4 to leading teams and nurturing talent. My advice to young professionals aiming for leadership roles:

  1. Get clear on where you want to go. I set the goal of becoming a CMO by 30, and achieved it by aligning my actions with that vision.
  2. Understand yourself and others. Leadership requires self‑awareness and the ability to develop and inspire a team.
  3. Invest in continuous learning. Take courses, find mentors, and develop the skills needed not just for your current role, but for the next level.”

How does the company approach diversity and inclusion, and how does that influence your marketing campaigns?

“At Kandji, I have the privilege of working with passionate, kind, and highly skilled individuals. One of the ways we foster diversity and inclusion is by prioritizing character, values, and potential in our hiring process—not just what’s on a resume.”

What trends do you see in Miami’s tech industry, and how is the company positioning itself to leverage these developments?

Miami’s tech scene is rapidly growing, and I see several key trends shaping its future:
● More tech companies are opening local offices, as leaders prioritize in‑person collaboration and community‑building.
● The tech community is becoming more connected. That’s why I took over as co‑head of Pavilion’s Miami chapter—to help bring GTM leaders together and build a stronger, more collaborative ecosystem.
Miami‑Dade County and its cities are prioritizing local talent development. The Miami area has made this a priority and is investing heavily in developing talent to meet the needs of the growing tech presence here.”

Achieving Operational Excellence

What differentiates your platform from others in the market, especially for managing Apple devices?

Kandji differentiates itself with a relentless focus on automation and user experience—saving IT and security teams time while ensuring seamless security.”

Who are your primary users, and how do you tailor your solutions to their specific needs?

Kandji is built for IT and security teams at companies that prioritize security and user experience. Our customers value innovation and cutting‑edge security solutions, which is why we invest in technologies like AI‑powered automation (for example, last year we launched Kai, an AI solution in our product) to streamline their workflows.”

How do you manage work‑life balance in a demanding role, and what strategies do you recommend?

“I prioritize my health, fitness, nutrition, and mindset. Work will always expand to fill the time you allow it, so making intentional time for well‑being is critical for sustainable success.”

Could you explain what the Pavilion Initiative is and how it aligns with your operational goals?

Pavilion is a global GTM leadership community, and I recently became co‑head of the Miami chapter alongside Tessa Whittaker, VP of RevOps at ZoomInfo. Miami’s tech scene needs a hub for GTM leaders to connect, collaborate, and elevate their careers. That’s what we’re building with Pavilion Miami—bringing executives together through curated local events, an active Slack community, and a dedicated newsletter that keeps members connected to the latest in Miami tech. Our focus is on fostering real connections and providing resources that help leaders grow and scale their businesses. Through events, ongoing discussions, and shared insights, we’re building a stronger, more connected tech community in Miami—one that benefits both the people here now and those looking to make Miami their next home.”
